Queensland Railways blouse, c1980
Queensland Railways blouse, c1980The view of Queensland as a tropical tourist destination was promoted in Queensland rail with the uniforms worn by female Refreshment Room staff on the Sunlander and the Queenslander depicting palm trees and beaches. Train travel was promoted as the easy way to access the tropical north and the journey on the Sunlander was seen as one of the great railway journeys of Australia. From the earliest days Queensland Rail even supplied their own tourism images of the Queensland landscape.
