Reafforestation by relief work, Queensland, 1931. These images appeared in the first annual report of the Queensland Department of Labour and Industry on the ‘operations and proceedings’ under the Income (Unemployment Relief) Tax Acts 1930. This is the relay baton that carried the message from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for the Opening Ceremony of the XII Commonwealth Games held in Brisbane from 30 September to 9 October 1982.
