Charles Brand's tent, India 1910

Indian servant outside Charles Brand’s nicely labelled tent, Jalna, India, 1910. The provision of large numbers of servants was a feature of life in the British Raj, and Brand and his fellow soldiers who served in India experienced a degree of luxury unheard of back in Australia.
Brand was a staff captain to the 9th Indian Cavalry Brigade. A servant holds Brand's cap and sword.
